Adventure Path - Session 1

An adventuring party comes to the rescue of another small adventuring party that came under attack by kobolds on the King's Road. After defeating the reptilian ambushers, they agree to travel to Winterhaven together.

In Winterhave the group meets with several of the locals, gathering information about their quests. After spending the night and while waiting for the research of the local sage, they head out towards a nearby burial site in search of a missing mentor.

On the King's Road, they are ambushed again by kobolds and defeat them once more. They find proof that the kobolds are also involved with Orcus.

Arriving at the burial site, they are attacked by ruffians led by a gnome and a spectral apparation. They destroy the apparation and defeat the humanoids. The gnome confesses that the shopkeeper in Winterhaven is behind the cultist activity. The party also rescues the missing mentor who asks his pupils to dig deeper into the cultist's activities. They also recover a mirror, a relic the cultists were looking for.

The party returns to Winterhaven with the gnome and the mentor. Before reaching the town, they spot trouble at one of the farms. The enter the farm and defeat the ruffians but fail so save the farmer's daughter. The captured ruffians, who also are involved with the cult, confirm the Winterhaven shopkeeper's involvement in the cult's activities.

The Campaign

We are starting a campaign that will take the characters from 1st to 30th level through the series of adventures (H1-H2-H3-P1-P2-P3-E1-E2-E3) published by Wizards of the Coast. This campaign is open to all players. After each adventure we will switch to another dungeon master.

Every character (even if that character's player is not present or if he is the DM) gains the same amount of XP (combat, skill challenge and quest). When the next adventure begins, every character gains enough additional XP to reach the minimum level of that adventure. In-game the missing characters are always present but outside the encounter (guarding the rear in dungeons, scouting ahead or the flanks in wilderniss area, doing something else when in rural area, …). XP will be handed out during the session. Characters can level during the session but only after an extended rest. Every player should prepare the level-up for his character. Character death will follow the standard rules. There will be no charity clause.

Each level, each character can find one magic item parcel with a magic item lvl+2. By the end of the adventure, the DM makes sure all characters (including absent players’ characters and the DM’s character) received their allotment of found magic items. The players should prepare their list of magic items and deliver it to the DM before the adventure. The party will find other monetary rewards in a per character format in stead of a nominal amount. The total money (including residiuum) found will be logged on this site. Each player must keep track of his money spend which may not be more than his remaining starting gold in addition to the gold per character found. If the partymembers must pay something (ferry, food, ...) all characters must pay it (including the characters who's players are not present). These expences will be deducted in the same per character format as for found gold.

The Characters

We are looking for characters with depth that can be roleplayed in stead of being rollplayed. They should be generally good alligned, teamplayers and interested in the story lines. If you are interested, you can send a character proposal to Jeroen that contains the following information: race, class, character concept (history, demeanor, ...), Role (striker, defender, ...) and campaign hook (see below). You do not need to send a detailed character sheet at this time. Take into account that your characters are only just starting their adventuring career (0 xp). Do not send these proposals to the whole group.

Character Creation

Ability Scores : 22 Point Buy

Equipment: 100 gp.

Background: Characters can choose backgrounds from either the general backgrounds or the Scales of War specific backgrounds. Other backgrounds are not allowed. If you do not have access to these backgrounds, contact Jeroen or Joost.

Deity: Deities are limited to core deities only.

All published (in a book) Wizards of the Coast material is allowed. Dragon content is also allowed with the exception of playtest material.

Campaign Hooks

When starting the campaign, your character finds itself en route to the town of Winterhaven for one of the following reasons:

A) You seek news of your old friend and mentor Douven Stall. He trained you for a life of adventure but left three months ago and headed for Winterhaven. He should have returned some time ago. you fear the worst and are determined to find out what happend to your mentor.

B) You were hired by a scholar named Parle Cranewig to locate an old keep and map it.

C) You were contacted by Marla, a young priest of Bahamut, whose research has led here to believe a secret cult has set up shop in the area.

ADCP2-1 The Paladins' Plague The leaders of Elturel are concerned about the plagueland a few miles outside the city, which has recently begun spewing out even more twisted monstrosities than usual. The paladins have put out a call for adventuring companies to send their best and bravest explorers to venture to the border, if not into the plagueland itself. The expedition's charter is to bring back any information about the horrors within and what might be causing the increase in Spellplague activity. This is a very dangerous assignment, but also one that offers adventurers the chance to make a name for themselves by braving one of the most dangerous and least understood threats in all of Faerun: an active plagueland. The Paladins' Plague is a two-round continuous-play Living Forgotten Realms Battle Interactive set in Elturgard for characters levels 1-17. This adventure is combat-intensive. Players who do not enjoy combat encounters are less likely to enjoy this adventure. All of the characters in the party must be within a single level band (1-4, 4-7, 7-10, 11-14, or 14-17). It is recommended that at least three of the characters be members of the same Adventuring Company. This adventure takes place after the events of the various SPEC2-1 adventures, but playing the adventures in order is not required. This adventure may only be run at Wizards Play Network (WPN) Public Play events. It may not be sanctioned for Private Play.

The Paladins' Plague is a two-round continuous-play Living Forgotten Realms Battle Interactive set in Elturgard for characters levels 1-17. This adventure is combat-intensive. Players who do not enjoy combat encounters are less likely to enjoy this adventure. All of the characters in the party must be within a single level band (1-4, 4-7, 7-10, 11-14, or 14-17). It is recommended that at least three of the characters be members of the same Adventuring Company. This adventure takes place after the events of the various SPEC2-1 adventures, but playing the adventures in order is not required. While the members of this society have build a name for themself as notorious, treasureseeking, brawling and corpserobbing adventurers, they secretly have sworn an oath to oppose the forces of darkness and evil that surround the goodly regions of Cormyr, the Dalelands and the elven realm of Myth Drannor.

Requirements
- The members must be from one of the following regions: Cormyr, the Dalelands or Myth Drannor. A character that is not from one of these regions must be sponsored by an existing member that is from one of these regions.
- The members must swear an oath to oppose the Zhentarim, Sembia and the Netherese whenever they can.
- The members must show they are true adventurers by being trained in at least one of the following skills : Streetwise (notorious), Perception (treasureseeking), Intimidate (brawling) and Thievery (corpserobbing). If the character can show evidence that they oppose Sembia, the Netherese and the Zhentarim or that they have gained the favor of Cormyr, the Dalelands or Myth Drannor, they might gain a free pass for this skill requirement. If your character earned a story award that proves this (for example CORM01 or WEEK06), the skill training requirement is dropped.

ADCP2-1 The Paladins' Plague The leaders of Elturel are concerned about the plagueland a few miles outside the city, which has recently begun spewing out even more twisted monstrosities than usual. The paladins have put out a call for adventuring companies to send their best and bravest explorers to venture to the border, if not into the plagueland itself. The expedition's charter is to bring back any information about the horrors within and what might be causing the increase in Spellplague activity. This is a very dangerous assignment, but also one that offers adventurers the chance to make a name for themselves by braving one of the most dangerous and least understood threats in all of Faerun: an active plagueland. The Paladins' Plague is a two-round continuous-play Living Forgotten Realms Battle Interactive set in Elturgard for characters levels 1-17. This adventure is combat-intensive. Players who do not enjoy combat encounters are less likely to enjoy this adventure. All of the characters in the party must be within a single level band (1-4, 4-7, 7-10, 11-14, or 14-17). It is recommended that at least three of the characters be members of the same Adventuring Company. This adventure takes place after the events of the various SPEC2-1 adventures, but playing the adventures in order is not required. This adventure may only be run at Wizards Play Network (WPN) Public Play events. It may not be sanctioned for Private Play.

Zaterdag 21 maart - Worldwide D&D Gameday

Er zal een speciaal avontuur kunnen gespeeld worden naar aanleiding van het uitbrengen van Player's Handbook II. Het avontuur heet One Dark Night in Weeping Briar en zal kunnen gespeeld worden met vooraf gegenereerde personages. De mogelijke personages om mee te spelen zijn Balasar (11th level Dragonborn Paladin of Bahamut), Ilivarra (11th level Drow Avenger), Markaria (11th level Tiefling Invoker), Roswyn (11th level Gnome Bard) en Squeaks (11th level Warforged Barbarian). Deze vooraf gegenereerde personages gebruiken reeds classes en powers uit Player's Handbook II en Divine Power.

Iedereen zal ook zijn kennis van 4th edition kunnen testen met een speciale trivia test.

Naast dit adventure organiseren we ook een Dungeon Delve. De Dungeon Delve van maart is "Company of the Griffon" en is een adventure voor 10th level personages. Je brengt best zelf een 10th level personage mee. Misschien is dit eens een kans om je LFR personage al eens uit te werken tot 10th level en eens te playtesten ...

Inschrijvingsprocedure voor nieuwe spelers

Stap 1 : vul het DCI formulier in

De organisator van een RPGA evenement kan je een DCI formulier bezorgen. Stuur Joost [demonlordd1@yahoo.com] of Jerre [rpga-lva@skynet.be] een e-mail en dan kan dit voor een evenement al geregeld worden. Eens je het formulier hebt, vul dit in, scheur de kaart en de activatiecode van het formulier en bezorg het formulier terug aan de organisator. Hij zal dit formulier opsturen naar Wizards of the Coast.

Stap 2 : registreer je nieuwe DCI kaart

Surf naar http://www.thedci.com/activate. Geef het DCI nummer van je nieuwe kaart in. In de volgende schermen moet je ook de activatie code, je regio en geboortedatum en je e-mail adres ingeven. Even later stuurt Wizards of the Coast jou een e-mail met een initieel paswoord om in te loggen op de DCI website.

Stap 3 : registreer je voor D&D Rewards.

Na stap 2 ben je enkel nog maar een DCI lid. Surf naar https://membership.wizards.com/login.aspx?ReturnURL=/signup/signup.aspx en login met je DCI nummer en je ontvangen paswoord. Kies voor D&D Rewards. Als je de nodige gegevens hebt ingegeven, krijg je opnieuw een e-mail met de bevestiging dat je nu ook ingeschreven bent voor D&D Rewards. Als je nu inlogt op de DCI website door te surfen naar https://webapp.wizards.com/personal.aspx, krijg je de link My Rewards in de rechter kolom.

Proficiat, je bent nu lid van de RPGA!

Als je toegang hebt tot je mailbox via internet (vb webmail applicatie van je provider of omdat je een hotmail of gmail account hebt), kan deze procedure ter plaatse uitgevoerd worden (als we kunnen gebruik maken van de internetverbinding van Hermelijn). Als je niet ingeschreven bent voor D&D Rewards voor je deelname aan je eerste RPGA evenement, krijg je geen D&D Rewards punten voor je eerste evenement.

Stap 4 : registreer je LFR personage

De enige manier die momenteel gekend is om je LFR (Living Forgotten Realms) personage te registeren alvorens je aan een evenement hebt deelgenomen, is door gebruik te maken van de Wizards of the Coast knowledge base om contact te maken met Wizards of the Coast customer service. Surf hiervoor naar http://www.wizards.com/customerservice en klik op Email Us. Vermeld in je bericht dat de link My Characters ontbreekt wanneer je inlogt bij op de DCI website. Van zodra ze dit bericht verwerkt hebben, krijg je een e-mail met een bevestiging.

Wanneer je dan inlogt op https://webapp.wizards.com/personal.aspx is de My Characters link rechts toegevoegd. Klik op deze link en klik op de volgende webpagina bovenaan op Dungeons & Dragons. Je krijgt dan de mogelijkheid om op Living Forgotten Realms te klikken. Daarna is het eenvoudig: klik op Add voor een nieuw personage toe te voegen waarbij enkel de naam kan ingegeven worden. Selecteer eventueel default for campaign aan om aan te geven met welk personage je voornamelijk zal spelen.

Weekend in the Realms (24-26 oktober 2008)

In het weekend van 24-26 oktober organiseert de RPGA wereldwijd een speciaal introductie evenement voor de Living Forgotten Realms Campaign. Wij gaan gebruik maken van dit evenement om ook in Aalst de Living Forgotten Realms campaign te starten.

Tijdens dit weeked is er de exclusieve mogelijkheid om het LFR mega-avontuur "Beneath Haunted Halls " te spelen. Enkel tijdens dit weekend zal het mogelijk zijn om dit avontuur te spelen dat zich afspeelt in en rond de beroemde Haunted Halls of Eveningstar. Het avontuur bestaat uit drie delen die elk in ongeveer drie uren kunnen gespeeld worden. Je kan één, twee of alle drie de delen spelen en voor elke deel krijg je D&D rewards punten voor je LFR personage.

Wat is Living Forgotten Realms ?

Living Forgotten Realms (LFR) is een Living 4th edition Dungeons & Dragons RPGA campaign die zich in de Forgotten Realms campaign afspeelt. Het grote voordeel van een Living Campaign is dat je personages XP, gold en equipment verdienen en dus ook levelen. Andere RPGA avonturen gebruiken meestal personages die niet verder gebruikt worden buiten dat specifieke avontuur (vb een avontuur met vooraf gegenereerde personages).

Deze living campaign is geregionaliseerd om administratieve redenen. België valt onder de region Noord-Europa & Rusland en deze regio komt in de campaign overeen met The Dalelands. Dat wil niet zeggen dat de personages die je speelt moeten van deze regio komen. Wat is RPGA? Hoe wordt ik lid?

De RPGA (Roleplaying Gamers Association) is de "organised play" afdeling van Wizards of the Coast met betrekking tot Dungeons & Dragons en andere d20 spellen. Dit netwerk geeft de mogelijkheid om deze games te spelen en biedt ook ondersteuning.

De RPGA heeft verschillende vormen van lidmaatschap, enerzijds voor spelers en anderzijds voor game masters (dungeon masters). Lidmaatschap is gratis en blijft altijd geldig. Als speler lid kan je deelnemen aan RPGA-gesanctioneerde evementen over de hele wereld. Als dungeon master kan je zelf RPGA evenementen organiseren, avonturen meesteren en gratis avonturen downloaden.

Om lid te worden moet je deelnemen aan een RPGA-gesanctioneerd evenement. Je moet enkele gegevens opgeven en je krijgt een lidkaart. Eens je een lidkaart hebt, kan je met het unieke nummer dat daarop vermeld staat, inloggen op de website van Wizards of the Coast en inschrijven op het D&D rewards programma.
Je lidkaart (of toch zeker het daarop vermelde nummer) moet je altijd bij hebben als je deelneemt aan evenement. Diegene die het evenement organiseert gebruikt het nummer om je deelname te rapporteren op de website van Wizards of the Coast zodat je ook je D&D rewards punten verdient. Sinds kort zijn de RPGA nummers en de DCI nummers op gelijke voet geplaatst. Indien je al een DCI nummer hebt, kan je dat ook gebruiken om in te loggen op de website van Wizards of the Coast. Als je dungeon master wil worden en je beschikt al over een RPGA nummer, kan je de Herald level test afleggen op de website van Wizards of the Coast. Na het succesvol afleggen van deze korte openboek test, krijg je toegang tot alle dungeon master mogelijkheden (evenementen organiseren, adventures downloaden, ...)

Er zijn drie categoriën van RPGA evenementen: Campaigns, Classic Adventures en Home Play.
- Campaigns hebben grote verhaallijnen en kunnen over meerdere jaren gespeeld worden. De Personages verwerven goud, XP, equipment en class abilities over de jaren heen. Vb de Living Forgotten Realms campaign.
- Classic adventures bevatten op voorhand opgestelde personages waarbij iedereen in de party een van deze personages speelt. Eens dat het adventure over is, stopt ook het personage met te bestaan.
- Home-Play adventures speel je thuis met je vaste groep spelers. Je krijgt nog steeds D&D rewards als je DM deze evenementen rapporteert op de website van Wizards of the Coast.
